- Matt received a job offer for a really amazing job in Houston, TX. We got the official offer right as we were leaving town for Thanksgiving.
- One road trip to Philly for Thanksgiving.
- One cold for two weeks. (It was me and I couldn't think straight for days.)
- One side trip to Gettysburg with Krister & Sheri.
- A double birthday party while in Philly for Sheri and Matt.
- One week with my sister Megan and her sweet little girl Cora. We explored Boston for the last time.
- Helped put on one huge Christmas event.
- Attempted to say good bye to some of our Boston friends. Sad. (I missed an official good-bye with my best Boston friend, but we hope to see each other later anyway! Often. No need for a good-bye!)
- A trip to Utah to visit family.
- Two days in Boston to clean up our apartment, clean out the storage unit, pack bags for my family which will be the only items we'll have for one month in Houston, and supervise the movers pack up all our things.
- A trip to Atlanta to visit family for an early Christmas.
- Four flight delays keeping us in the airport literally all day long. One bag lost (all my things) but recovered the next day.
- One grueling week of house/condo/apartment hunting. Finally signed a 12 month lease on an apartment less than a half mile from Matt's work.
- Moving into our apartment in two weeks and will be moving once again at the end of our lease. Hopefully at that time we'll get to move into a more permanent residence in the Houston area.
Roughly 900 miles in our tiny car, 8 flights, two cab rides, one rental car....That's a lot of traveling with a baby in such a short amount of time! We all made it and while it was too much all at once, each part was so much fun. What a way to top off 2010. It started off by having my first baby and ended it with a move and a new job. This was quite a year!

Desprate for Gift Ideas
I know, I know...Christmas is still three months away. Desperate for gift ideas this soon? YES! I've found that coming up with the spare quiet time to think, the spare time to shop, and the spare time to make/craft is limited now that I am keeping track of a little baby. :)
Organization is key. Thoughtful gifts are important. Budget is very, very limited. Sooooo, this is why I feel like I should already have a plan and feel anxious that I don't already have the perfect homemade gift ideas ready to work on.
If you have any great ideas send them my way.

40 Years
This doesn't even scratch the surface, but here I go....
2 sons
3 daughters
6 granddaughters
6 houses
4 states
6 cats
1 dog (for about 6 months)
2 sons served 2 year missions and a 2 year service mission of their own
3 sets of braces
15 super awesome years of waking kids up at 5am to get ready for early morning seminary (mom)
13 associate degrees, 9 bachelor degrees, 1 beauty school graduate, 1 MBA, and soon 1 Doctor of Optometry. (This tally includes Mom and Dad's education as they graduated within this 40yrs. Also included are all the son/daughter inlaws, most of whom were apart of the family before they graduated.)
Always delicious family dinners at home but we all remember our night out at The Rheinlander or our infamous tuna on toast Christmas Dinner when the ham was still half frozen.
Countless gray hairs, late nights, and pep talks
Lots of skiing, running, walking, and sewing
A bunch of adventures around the globe
A hundred root beer floats (make that several hundred!)
A thousand track meets, tennis matches, dance recitals, cheer-leading, student government, choir recitals, t-ball games, boy scout camp outs, bicycle road races, spelling tests, book reports, and more!

A billion frequent flier miles (dad)
One successful career in fatherhood and pharmaceutical sales
One successful career in motherhood and homemaking

40 years of marriage
I guess you could say every day of those 40 years were well earned!

Gross!
Apparently my wildly inconclusive judgments on my next door neighbors were correct. Among the trash they left in the lobby upon moving out this weekend there were a couple kitchen scales to measure small quantities. I went next door just a minute ago to tell the new tenants to turn down their music (even if they were moving in) and I instead found a cleaning crew and the most disgusting mess ever. Wall to wall trash!
Last and not least.......I have now killed a spider and 12 flies all just this afternoon! There are still 3 more yet to get and I can only guess more will appear. The cleaning crew must have disturbed some discustingness next door. Ewe!
*EDIT* Killed at least 21 flies. It was hard to keep count towards the end of it all.

A Loss
For a solid decade I have carried with me a little item that was oh so useful and quite special to me.
Last week my little family and I flew to Atlanta for a visit with friends and family. I have flown quite a bit over the years and considered myself quite a proficient traveler. This past trip, while it was another successful one, felt somewhat like my first flight because I had my infant in my arms. A hundred different things to remember, extra items to carry, many more smiles from strangers, and even a mid flight diaper change! My baby did great! The only glitch was that amidst all the new little things for a first time mom to remember, I forgot to remove my pocket knife from my key chain. When airport security removed the well used pocket knife and chucked it into the garbage can, I didn't have the time for a proper eulogy. So, at this time I would like to say a few words about my old friend....
Ten years
in my pocket, in my purse, jingling next to my keys.
Royal blue plastic casing.
One side with the Swiss Army logo
the other side said, "AMGEN 2000".
An employee tchotchke given to me by my Dad after a company meeting.
The scisors lost it's spring and the knife was dull.
The tweesers and tooth pick long since fallen out.
Such a useful and handy companion.
I am glad have kept track of you all these years.
But now it is time for you to join all the other pocket knives
in lost and founds and airport security bins around the world.
Good bye old friend!

Nostrils & Fingers
Are most people's nostrils in proportion to their finger tip size?
My baby had a golden nugget stuck in her nose. I couldn't get it out with my fingers, the booger sucker wasn't doing the trick, but I could tell that her little fingers would have been so perfect for this job. Eventually the booger was extracted but I haven't stopped thinking about this quote ever since...

Double Talk
Recently I wondered why people seem to unconsciously double talk when talking to a baby. IE: "Was that so funny? Was that so funny?" Or, "Do you like your little bear? Do you like your little bear?"...and so on... If you don't know what I'm talking about you will next time you are around a new baby and adults.
Well, I think I discovered the answer to the question as to why do adults instantly double talk to babies. We're uncomfortable! Socially we feel uncomfortable if we say something to someone and don't get anything in response. Yes, even from a baby who can't talk! Alternatively, a baby might give a big smile or laugh instead of silence which triggers the adult to double talk in hopes for another cute reaction.
Maybe we're teaching the early stages of communication to a new person, or maybe babies bring out the inner idiot in all adults. Whatever it may be, I challenge you to see if you can resist the double talk next time you play with a baby one on one!

What a Difference a Day Makes
Everyone can agree that there is really such a thing as a good hair day and a bad hair day. We've all experienced this. However, am I the only one who has good penmanship days vs. bad penmanship days? My mom always has perfect penmanship days. I've never seen her write an ugly or illegible word. I, on the other hand, just wrote a birthday card note to my little niece and it looks like a 12 year old boy wrote it!

Review: Gentlemen Broncos
Gentlemen Broncos was horribly awesome. Deathroll and I had to pause the movie often to catch our breath and to soak in all the hilariousness. We had to turn on the subtitles so that we could catch every single word. Most people will hate this movie, but if you get it you will want to watch it a couple of times.

Gentlemen Broncos tells the story of a homeschooled teenage outcast and aspiring fantasy writer. Time for an Update!
Here I am at nearly 42 weeks pregnant!
Ouch!
At least in this picture I'm headed into the birthing center to have my baby. Yes, after about 18 hours, 2 1/2 hrs which were pushing, I finally had my nearly 9lb baby!!! I've never felt so wasted and so awesome in the very same moment.

Blog Going Private
With the baby almost here the husband and I have decided to take my blog private.
It's sad ... I have a hard time keeping track of all the private blogs I'd like to follow as I really prefer using Google Reader myself. I hope that one day there will be some patch so private blogs can be added to Reader for convenience sake. Hopefully I don't loose very many of my lurking friends as I really do love for you to check up on what I am up to, no matter how boring or weird my posts may be.

Awaiting Labor : 38 & 39 wks
At 39 weeks I'm feeling stiff, sore, and walk like an old man but am happy to finally move past feeling really sick. My best Boston friend, is super motivating and has me optimistic that I'm nearing the end...Whether it's another day or up to another couple weeks before our babies arrive, at least we have time to treat ourselves to some delicious ice cream while we wait it out together!

Looking back over a week ago:
Here I am running on 3 to 5 hours of bad sleep each night (it got worse when I suffered through the worst of my cough and had several nights with zero sleep), currently have a never ending cough and congestion, have swollen feet, and gained roughly 25+lbs. It's a good thing I'm 38 weeks pregnant or there would be something really weird going on!
