Awaiting Labor : 38 & 39 wks

At 39 weeks I'm feeling stiff, sore, and walk like an old man but am happy to finally move past feeling really sick. My best Boston friend, is super motivating and has me optimistic that I'm nearing the end...Whether it's another day or up to another couple weeks before our babies arrive, at least we have time to treat ourselves to some delicious ice cream while we wait it out together!

(Pic taken 1/14/2010. I'm 39wks...Ginger is a trooper at 41wks!)

Looking back over a week ago:
Here I am running on 3 to 5 hours of bad sleep each night (it got worse when I suffered through the worst of my cough and had several nights with zero sleep), currently have a never ending cough and congestion, have swollen feet, and gained roughly 25+lbs. It's a good thing I'm 38 weeks pregnant or there would be something really weird going on!

Boston College Girls

I have such sweet girlfriends here in Boston. My Boston College girls (a bunch of girls who have boyfriends/fiances/husbands in the MBA program) got together to celebrate my fascinating growing belly and Pinkberry! I thought it was quite perfect that they chose to carry on a collegiate theme as everyone shared their favorite childhood book. I came home with a lovely stack of classic books for the little one to enjoy which I am really excited about.

Kathleen and Krista, our lovely hostesses pictured above, made this the most thoughtful shower I could have imagined. Herbal teas, delish sandwiches with the crusts cut off, scones, cookies, a fruit tart, and even Dove chocolate mint pieces! It was so pretty and I'm still not sure how they got into my head so well...Each thing was so personalized and a personal favorite.

Now it's time for a few classic shower games. A name game, how BIG is Jana's belly, and draw a baby. (check out the pictures for that last game mentioned. It was quite funny to watch and the results were even more entertaining.)

Thanks again BC girls. I guess we're adding one more girl (a baby girl) to our get togethers in a month or two.

Georgia Visitors!

Last weekend we got to catch up and visit with an old friend from Georgia! Kara and her little girl stayed with us and we got to do a little exploring around town.

Matt was just a little excited to see a Gwinnett County Georgia license plate.

Did I mention that Kara is an awesome photographer? I snagged a few of her pics because they really show how beautiful Boston is. You can also clearly tell the difference between Kara's professional pictures and the crappy pictures I typically post on my blog!

Check out that cute jumper...another amazing hand made creation by the talented Kara!

This was what was left after the downtown market. Disgusting! Wasteful! Shocking!

Boston Harbor Cruise

Our awesome friend Ginny hooked us and a bunch of friends up with a free Harbor Cruise out of Boston to Spectacle Island. It was great to get a view of Boston from afar and always fun to play on a beach with friends!

Ginny and Jana at the beach with the Boston skyline in the background.

Matt and Ginny relaxing on the beach.

This post wouldn't be complete w/o an embarrassing pic of me pretending to run up the beach. I had several other embarrassing pictures of the group but wasn't sure they would want their beach bods posted to the internet via my blog! You're all welcome!

Subversive Sugar Cookie Decorating

I decorated cookies with a couple of my girlfriends here in Boston the other day and had so much fun. Matt enjoyed eating my masterpieces. Unfortunately I only took a couple pictures so here are just a few of my subversive holiday cookies.

The Best Neighbors Ever!

NoPo = North Portland
With the house up for sale and our move impending, my very best Portland friend and neighbor threw me and Matt and neighborhood goodbye party. (This was the last weekend in May.) We live on such a wonderful street filled with amazing people who we could never forget.

Anyone in ear shot of me for weeks after this party would have certainly heard me talk about Wendy's "Hamburger Dogs" or "Hamburger Logs". This is by far the best idea of all time! I should also mention that Wendy is an amazing cook and the spread was filled with tons of amazing eats.

(A few more important neighborhood friends shown below as they were not paparazzied at the party.)

Thanks to all our friends on Farragut Street and especially Wendy for all the great memories!

Tony -aka- T.Roll

The weekend before leaving town one of our best and long time friends came to visit us
from Seattle. He took the train down and hung out with us for the day.
Now that is a dedicated friend!!!

First off, breakfast on Mississippi Ave then Tony helped Matt bring a couple pieces of furniture to the main floor of the house. After business was taken care of, Death Roll, Stolen Sweets (on her newly fitted scraper bike), and T-Roll we were off for a day of radical bike riding. We rode downtown Portland then took the Max up to Washington Park to the top of the hill which we proceeded to bomb down. We rode over a couple of bridges and along the waterfront. A little Hot Lips Pizza for a late lunch and a farewell to Tony at the downtown train station.

What an awesome day. Thanks for being such a great friend Tony.
Hopefully we'll hang out in Boston or Seattle very soon.

Oh Canada!

I had the best weekend ever with my good friend and old college roommate visiting! Marnie is a one of a kind - forever friend. It was awesome to stay up talking like old times, spending the day downtown shopping, and I also got to meet two of her sisters who are also amazing. On her way out of town, Marnie dropped off a HUGE bag of the best Canadian sweets, treats, and junk food. You just can't get this stuff here in the States and Matt and I were seriously blown away by this jumbo surprise package!!! We're addicted to Ketchup Chips and Smarties.

We hope to visit with Marnie again soon!
